Cry Out America 9/11/09

On Friday September 11, 2009 Mick hosted a prayer event called Cry Out America in downtown Peoria at the County Courthouse. There were over 75 people in attendance! Mick, Doug Fouts, Robin Fiedler, and Police Chief Settingsgaard all spoke and prayed for our community and nation and the Peoria Fire Dept Pipes and Drums were there to perform Amazing Grace on the bagpipes! It was an incredible day and the weather was beautiful! Here is Mick giving his opening remarks:

Emily, Kenzi and Luke had fun playing with the flowers! Isn't Emily a little ham??!! She is saying "CHEESE!"

Mick with one of the Fire Depts pipes and drums members. (This is Mick's version of Disney World pics with the characters ;0). These guys did an amazing job and it was pretty warm that afternoon, poor guys were sweating so bad afterwards!

Life Group Covenant - Spring 2008

Life Group Covenant – Spring 2008

Mission – [Matthew 22:37-39]

Our mission is to provide a safe and open environment where we can support and encourage one another with the Love of Christ so that we may grow closer to God (love God) and to one another (love our neighbors) as we experience life together.

We will – [Romans 12:10-13] [Hebrews 10:24]
- Promote Christian fellowship and friendships (community)
- Encourage spiritual growth and transformation (discipleship)
- Impact our church and community for Christ’s Kingdom (service)
-Share God’s good news and community with others, pray for the empty chair (out reach/evangelism), evaluate growth and branching next season!

Vision - [Matthew 28:18-20] [John 15:5]

To be a growing and vibrant small group; connected to Christ and producing spiritual fruit for His Kingdom in our local church and community.

Time Frame – We will meet from January until June. In order to meet our goal of promoting Christian fellowship and friendships, we will plan social activities. At the end of the period, we will re-evaluate the group covenant at that time.

Life Group meetings will start at 6:30 p.m., unless otherwise specified. We will do our best to start the lesson by 7:00 p.m. and end by 8:00 p.m.

Meeting Place – We will meet at the Adrian’s. Refreshments will be provided by each member of the group on a rotating basis. If you sign up to bring refreshments for a certain evening but find that you are not able to make it to Life Group, please contact the host with as much notice as possible. Refreshments need not be elaborate, cookies, chips, or snacks and drinks are sufficient.

Childcare – As agreed upon, each member of the group will contribute money to help cover the cost of providing childcare. The suggested amount is $5 per person, or $10 per couple (per 6-8 wks). This money will be collected and distributed by Dick Adrian.

Guidelines
- While we are in this life group, we will give group meeting priority. If you are not able to attend, please call the Adrian’s (243-5344) or the Dobra’s (231-4542).
- Everyone is given the right to his or her own opinion. Encourage participation, respect each other’s thoughts, don’t discourage questions, and help each other learn. [Romans 12:10]
- Guard against gossip. Be responsible when it comes to subjects regarding others. [Proverbs 10:19]

CONFIDENTIALITY – anything said during life group should not be repeated outside of life group.

- Permission is given to call upon each other in time of need.
- Support the group. Be considerate of each other’s feelings.

Preparing for the Harvest!

Preparing for the Harvest!
2008 Life Group Vision – John 15:1-8

Producing Fruit for the Glory of God!

We know from John 15:1-8 that we are pruned by God to produce good fruit:

Individually – Adding grapes to the branch

Galatians 5:22-23

Corporately – Adding branches to the vine

Matthew 28:18-20

How do we practically go about producing fruit?

A balanced focus Upward – Inward – Outward – Forward

Upward: connected to the Branch through prayer and worship.
Inward: safe welcoming fellowship and authentic community.
Outward: relational evangelism; growing the group.
Forward: discipleship and multiplication

Individually – Adding grapes to the branch

January through April 2008
1) Prayer!
2) Lesson by Ray Vander Laan on “Making Disciples”
3) Accountability partnerships and personal goals and commitments made to the group

Corporately – Adding branches to the vine

May through December 2008
1) Prayer!
2) Outward relational evangelism focus
3) Apprentice and host discipleship
4) Set a group goal for multiplication
